Great compilation of the artistry that the American Woman has contributed to the decorative arts. Spans the period from the 1600s to the early 20th century. Includes wonderful photographs of pieces that have survived such as samplers, quilts and coverlets, canvaswork table covers, crewelwork bed hangings, Berlinwork pictures, silk-embroidered tea cloths and others. Many examples of the plain-sewn pieces that women used and laundered every day have not survived and so examples are rare.
