Billy Collins has this uncanny ability to make you laugh out loud at the absurdity of everyday life, then quietly devastate you three lines later. His poems are deceptively simple—conversational, warm, witty—but beneath that accessible surface lies real emotional depth. Whether he's contemplating mortality through the lens of a forgotten book or finding profundity in the ordinary, Collins writes with the kind of clarity that makes poetry feel like the most natural thing in the world. Perfect for anyone who thinks they don't 'get' poetry, or for devotees who appreciate a master at work.
