Another case for Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby (John Nettles) and Sergeant Ben Jones (Jason Hughes). When an ex-spy is found dead on the local cricket green after having been seemingly attacked by a wild animal, all the evidence points to the legendary 'Beast of Midsomer'. However, when Barnaby discovers that Allenby House is being used as a safe house for the intelligence services, he realises that bitter and deadly rivalries still exist in the village.
